About SubtitleLab
SubtitleLab is a small collection of practical subtitle utilities.
Subtitle files are tiny, but the problems they cause are not: a movie that shows lines three seconds too late, a TV that refuses a file, accents that turn into question marks. SubtitleLab exists to fix those problems quickly, without installing a program or uploading your video’s subtitles to somebody else’s server.
How it works
Every tool is a static web page. When you drop a file, your browser reads it, JavaScript parses the format (SRT, WebVTT, ASS and others), applies the change you asked for and produces a new file for you to download. Because there is no back-end processing, we never see your files, and the tools keep working even if you go offline after the page has loaded.
What we focus on
- Accuracy — time codes are handled in whole milliseconds, ASS files keep their styles, and conversions follow the published formats.
- Clear explanations — each tool page explains what happens to your file and where the limits are, and the guides go deeper into formats, timing and encodings.
- Simplicity — one job per page, sensible defaults, no accounts.
How the site is funded
SubtitleLab is independent and free to use. It is funded by advertising shown on the pages, which is why you may see ads next to the tools. We do not sell data and we do not require registration. See the privacy policy for details.
Feedback
Found a file that does not convert correctly? Use the contact page, mention the tool and the format, and describe what you expected. Bug reports with a small sample file are the fastest to fix.
